TriSports.com Announces Partnership with Orbea USA
Author: Debbie Claggett
Tucson, AZ November 7, 2011: TriSports.com has entered into a partnership with Orbea USA to be one of only four online dealers carrying their full lines of road, tri and mountain bikes. All bikes will also be available in the TriSports.com retail location in Tucson, and any future TriSports.com stores. The internet is quickly becoming the first place consumers go to make their purchases, large and small, and TriSports.com is excited that Orbea USA understands and is now embracing this trend. Their selection of TriSports.com was, in large part, due to the already large web presence TriSports.com has in the triathlon industry and their understanding of how to market online and give the customer a great experience. Tony Karklins, Managing Director of Orbea USA, says “Orbea is honored to be working with TriSports.com as one of our exclusive online partners. We view TriSports.com not only as a global leader in triathlon product sales, but as one of the nation’s most premium IBDs. This is a perfect fit for Orbea.” TriSports.com has already started receiving Orbea bicycles, and founder Seton Claggett has been riding one for a few weeks now. Claggett shares his thoughts, “While some of the bigger bicycle manufacturers are unable to determine if the internet is coming or going, Orbea is on the forefront of reality. We are very sensitive to the IBD model since we have a retail location and we also know that you need to close the loop with the consumer by having a strong web presence.”
Orbea will also be partnering with TriSports.com on their cycling team and club, TriSports Cycling/Eclipse Racing. The CAT 1/2 riders will all be on Orbea Bicycles, and the entire club will be encouraged to take advantage of the partnership to upgrade to Orbea. “The TriSports Cycling/Eclipse Racing team is an exciting sponsorship for us to help launch our brand with TriSports.com and to stimulate our road sales throughout the southwest territory,” says Karklins. Team Director Scott Blanchard goes on to say, “How do you make a great cycling team even better? Start from the ground up. The addition of the world-class Orbea brand will provide TriSports Cycling/Eclipse Racing athletes with the most advanced bicycle technology available. We simply could not be more excited about this dynamic relationship and a very successful 2012!” The TriSports Cycling/Eclipse Racing was founded in Tucson 11 years ago and currently has 16 supported CAT 1/2 riders and over 140 club members. The team, currently #2 in Arizona, holds 8 State Championship titles, 94 podium wins and 211 top 10 results.
TriSports.com is an industry leader in triathlon, swim, bike and run retail, starting out of the home of Seton and Debbie Claggett in April 2000. Eleven years and two moves later, TriSports.com occupies 32,000 square feet of retail, warehouse and office space with 50+ employees. TriSports.com is more than just a retail presence, however; the company is also very involved with growing the sport through partnerships with races, clubs, teams and other endeavors, like being a founding member of Triathlon America, as well as being actively involved in the local Arizona community. TriSports.com also has a non-profit company, TriSports Racing, which puts on the Deuces Wild Triathlon Festival, certified as a silver-level green event through the Council for Responsible Sport, and is a founding member of their Community of Practice, an effort to ensure the future of sports in a sustainable way. TriSports.com has been recognized as one of Outside Magazine’s Best Places to Work (2009 & 2010), by Triathlete Magazine as one of Triathlete’s Best Places to Work (2010), as one of the top 100 bike shops in the US by the National Bicycle Dealers Association (2010 & 2011), as a top 10 triathlon store by Triathlon America (2011), by Comerica Bank as one of Arizona’s 50 Companies to Watch (October 2008), as one of BizAZ’s Top 35 Entrepreneurs Under 35 (June 2008), by Wells Fargo with their Copper Cactus Award for Business Growth (October 2005) and as Arizona’s Greenest Workplace by Mrs. Green’s World (October 2011).
